COVID-19 Update: We're reopening with enriched on-site courses!

Our French courses will return to our regular face-to-face classes in our new enriched on-site courses. As a student of the Alliance Française d’Adélaïde, you will join our community of teachers and students with weekly in-person French classes, as well as an online platform to practise your writing and grammar skills outside of the classroom! If you cannot make it on-site, we will continue to provide online sessions of selected courses during Term 3.

Beginners (A1 Level)

For complete beginners and those who have a basic level in French: 

Students will learn to: 

  • Introduce yourself, express likes and dislike
  • Daily routines and leisure activities
  • Numbers, time, days of the week, etc.
  • Present, Past and Future tenses
  • 4 levels to complete: from A1.1 to A1.4
  • After A1.4, prepare and sit for the DELF A1 exam, an official and international recognition of their level in French.

Intermediate (A2 Level)

For students who can communicate in a simple way and exchange information.

Students will learn to:

  • Converse daily in a simple way
  • Talk about your family, your relationships, your work
  • Past tenses, Subjunctive mode, Future tenses
  • Read and understand short articles, TV report
  • At the end of this level, prepare and sit for DELF A2.

Advanced (B1 Level)

For independent users who can maintain interaction progressing towards spontaneous communication.

Students will learn to:

  • Understand and use all Past, Future and Subjunctive tenses;
  • Speak and interact with more confidence;
  • Listen, read and understand a variety of audio and written documents: article, news reports, radio, TV
  • At the end of this level, prepare and sit for DELF B1. DELF B1 is the minimum level of proficiency required to be eligible for French citizenship.

Upper Advanced (B2 Level)

For students who can communicate spontaneously in French.

Students will learn to: 
  • Understand the main ideas of a complex text on both concrete and abstract topics
  • Interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity  with native speakers
Various courses to choose from:

  • B2.1  to further your study of the French language through textbooks. A structured progression for committed individuals.
  • Conversation groups to improve fluency and converse in French. Perfect for extroverts.
  • Arts Class or how to improve your French through the visit of an ideal museum.
Note: DELF B2 is the minimum level of proficiency required by most French universities for students who wish to undertake studies in France.

Academic (C1 Level)

For students who can communicate and interact fluently in French.

Students will learn to: 

  • Understand a wide range of more demanding and longer texts
  • Express their opinions in a more spontaneous way without searching for the right expression
  • Produce clear and well-structured texts on complex subjects showing correct use of organisational patterns and connectors

Note: DALF C1 is the minimum level of proficiency required by some French universities for students who wish to undertake studies in France.
