🌍 Water security in a changing world 🌍
As climate change puts pressure on our ecosystems, the question water security is more urgent than ever and scientists are working hard
to discover new and sustainable ways to clean and safeguard our water supply.
Professor Howard Fallowfield (Australia) and Professor Jérémy Pruvost (France -
online) will show how, in Australia and France, scientits are discovering new understandings to harness naturally occuring, harness algae
and bacteria for wasterwater treatment. They will be joined by Julien Anese, who will show how industry is
turning these discoveries into real-world solutions—through water reuse, green technologies, and desalination.
The talk will end with questions and discussion on how science and engineering together can secure our water future.

What is an Apéro Scientifique?
Apéros Scientifiques are informal gatherings combining science and socialising. Each session features a guest speaker or two presenting fascinating topics in a relaxed setting, followed by open discussion over drinks and nibbles. It’s the perfect mix of learning and leisure! They are organised in partnership with AFRAN (Australian-French Association for Research and Innovation), a network that fosters collaboration between French and Australian researchers, innovators, and science enthusiasts.
