Cafe Scientifique
Quantum: Small particles, big Mysteries
Ever wondered what quantum physics really is — beyond the headlines and the hype?
Join us for a Café Scientifique in a relaxed, welcoming setting, where curiosity meets conversation. Enjoy coffee and delicious French viennoiseries as we unpack some of the biggest questions in modern science — together.
Through an accessible introduction and a fascinating real-world perspective, step into the mysterious and often counterintuitive world of quantum science.
We are delighted to welcome two leading researchers from Adelaide University:
Professor Glenn Solomon
Hicks Chair in Quantum Materials and Director of the ARC Training Centre in Quantum Technologies, Glenn will present “A Short (and
Slightly Prejudiced!) Introduction to Quantum Science and Technology”
— a lively and insightful overview of this rapidly evolving field.
Dr Damien Raynal
Working at the intersection of technology, systems, and real-world applications, Damien will take us further with “Classical and Quantum
Escapism!”,
offering a fresh and thought-provoking perspective on how quantum ideas translate into practice.
Come for the science, stay for the conversation — and leave with a new sense of wonder.
