Secondary School Workshops

We understand the demands of the Australian curriculum for French and for other subjects. Therefore, our activities are designed to align with the South Australian Curriculum for Public Education, providing teachers with ready-to-use resources. Additionally, these activities overlap with other subjects, enabling us to address various competencies, and merge classes and curriculum requirements where possible.

The Alliance Française d'Adélaïde is dedicated to providing top-notch workshops that will enable students to immerse themselves in the French language, culture, and intercultural exchange.

Option 1: Online Virtual World Experience (from your classroom)

This workshop can take place entirely online, using computers or tablets in the classroom. In this version, students access a virtual world created by the Alliance Française d'Adélaïde, designed to promote interaction, collaboration, and creativity—all in French.

Each student will create and customize their own avatar, then explore the digital environment and its interactive features. Working in teams, students will engage with specific creative and problem-solving missions, allowing them to apply their language skills in a fun and meaningful way. At the end of the session, teams will present their projects to the class—practising public speaking and expression in French.

The Climate Fresk (La Fresque du Climat) is a collaborative, science-based workshop that makes climate change understandable for everyone. Created in France in 2018 by Cédric Ringenbach, it is based on the latest IPCC reports (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), and uses a set of 42 illustrated cards to help participants map out the links between human activities and climate disruption. In just 2 hours (adapted version), groups work together to uncover the complexity of climate science—and leave empowered with knowledge, clarity, and a desire to take action. It is now a global movement: Organised in 167 countries and translated into over 50 languages, the Climate Fresk counts more than 2,1 million participants and 96 000 facilitators. It is trusted by schools, universities, companies, governments, and individuals around the world. At the Alliance Française d'Adélaïde, as part of our strong commitment to addressing the climate emergency, we are proud to have trained facilitators to run Climate Fresk workshops in both English and French. Become a Writer & an Artist

Level: B1 & above
Duration: 60 minutes
Year level: Year 7 & above
Location: Incursion/Excursion

Create a comic strip on an environmental issue, with an activist character imagined in the spirit of the comic strip Les Mini-Justiciers (a small anthropomorphic character, suffering from a complex that subjects him to mockery, sees his defect mutate into a superpower that he will use to bring justice). Students create their own short bande dessinée (often abbreviated BD) in French, blending words and images to express ideas and emotions. Designed by one of our curriculum engineers, this workshop nurtures creativity, cultural appreciation, and personal expression through both language and art. La bande dessinée is considered a major art form and an important part of French and Belgian culture — on par with literature and cinema. In France, la BD is often called the neuvième art (“ninth art”), acknowledging it as a legitimate artistic and literary form. It’s not just for children — BDs are created for all ages and cover a wide range of genres, from humour and adventure to politics, history, and philosophy. Let us offer you a deep dive into this medium!
