Term 1: Cinéma
Level: B1 & above

The Cinema workshop is multifaceted, designed to engage students in both cultural discovery and creative expression. Participants will
explore the art of film analysis, gaining tools to critically appreciate and discuss cinematic works. This workshop also introduces an
emblematic institution of French culture, providing students with valuable insights into the traditions and demands of the French cinematic
world. It is not only an educational experience, but also a joyful opportunity for students to celebrate culture, creativity, and the magic
behind the scenes of cinema.
The French Film Festival marked its 36th anniversary in 2025, showcasing the Alliance Française d'Adélaïde’s strength and commitment. This
workshop is meticulously crafted to take students on an incredible journey of discovery and inspiration. It is led by one of the Alliance
Française’s experienced teachers, ensuring both expertise and enthusiasm. All creative materials, including films, activity cards, and
decorations, will be provided by the Alliance Française. Through hands-on activities and guided discussions, students will connect foreign
and local culture, experiencing the richness of cinema right in the midst of the French Film Festival of Adélaïde.
Material needed onsite:
- Working projector (for film sequences and excerpts)
- Projection screen or blank wall suitable for clear viewing
- Speakers / sound system to ensure good audio quality
- Classroom or space large enough to form small working groups comfortably
- Tables and chairs arranged flexibly for both group work and film viewing
This workshop follows the Australian Curriculum:
- Communicating: Engage in spoken and written exchanges to express ideas, opinions, and feelings.
- Understanding: Reflect on cultural perspectives in French media and how they differ from Australian contexts.
- Creating: Compose and perform short dialogues or scripts in French.
- Reflecting: Analyse how French and Australian cultures represent people and stories through film.

Term 2: Olympiades
Level: A2 & above
Duration: 120 minutes

As you know, from Friday 26 July 2024, Paris hosted the biggest sport event in the world, the Olympics. To commemorate this very special
occasion the Alliance Française d’Adelaïde introduced, the Olympiades de la Francophonie (Francophonie Olympics). Join us on a
journey around the Francophonie mixing muscles and brain, in which each team will represent a different country! Your students will
participate in a tournament that combines sports and a major quiz on the Francophonie.
Material provided by the Alliance Française d'Adélaïde:
- Flashcards of sports
- Small props (balls, hoops, cones, baton)
- Printed medals (or stickers)
- Bluetooth speaker for French music
- Word bank handouts
To be provided by the school:
- Sunscreen
- Hat/Cap

This workshop follows the Australian Curriculum:
- Languages (French): sports vocabulary, numbers, classroom instructions, intercultural understanding.
- Health & PE: movement skills, teamwork, participation.
- General capabilities: intercultural understanding, literacy, critical and creative thinking.

Term 3: Cuisine

The French Cooking workshop is a hands-on culinary adventure, designed to immerse students in the art of French cuisine and offer an
authentic experience. Participants will step into the shoes of a true commis de cuisine, mastering the techniques, flavours, and
traditions that define France's rich culinary heritage. Throughout the session, students will explore a range of classic French recipes,
from savory appetizers to delectable desserts, learning to navigate French cooking terminology, decipher intricate recipes, and manage
measurements in the precise and passionate way the French do. Due to the hands-on nature of cooking, instructions will be provided solely in
French. This approach enables students to improve their language skills while honing their culinary abilities. The workshop encourages
teamwork and creativity, as participants work together to craft dishes they can proudly take home.

- Mixing bowls

This workshop follows the Australian Curriculum:

Term 4: Virtual Reality
Level: A2 & above
Duration: 60 minutes

The Virtual Reality workshop offers students a unique and immersive journey into French culture, language, and collaboration—either
in-person or from the classroom. Designed to stimulate creativity, critical thinking, and language skills, this workshop allows students to
explore and interact in a fully French-speaking environment brought to life through cutting-edge technology.
Option 1: Online Virtual World Experience (from your classroom)
This workshop can take place entirely online, using computers or tablets in the classroom. In this version, students access a virtual
world created by the Alliance Française d'Adélaïde, designed to promote interaction, collaboration, and creativity—all in French.
Each student will create and customize their own avatar, then explore the digital environment and its interactive features. Working in
teams, students will engage with specific creative and problem-solving missions, allowing them to apply their language skills in a fun and
meaningful way. At the end of the session, teams will present their projects to the class—practising public speaking and expression in
French.
This version is ideal for classrooms with access to individual electronic devices and does not require travel.

Option 2: Onsite Virtual Reality Experience (at the Alliance Française)
This version of the workshop takes place on the premises of the Alliance Française d'Adélaïde, where students will engage with a curated
virtual reality experience using our Oculus headsets.
To participate, students must have a signed security waiver and be present onsite. The session is carefully structured to alternate between
time with and without headsets, in compliance with safety guidelines, and to support deeper reflection and discussion.
Inside the headset, students will be transported into immersive, 360-degree environments where they'll complete interactive language and
cultural missions. Outside the headset, guided group activities will reinforce vocabulary and cultural insight into the 360 content.
No material needed, have your students bring their glasses if they own a pair.
