"La Promesse de l'aube" is a Franco-Belgian biographical drama film co-written and directed by Éric Barbier, released in 2017. It is an adaptation of the eponymous novel by Romain Gary (1960) and the eponymous film by Jules Dassin (1970).

From his difficult childhood in Poland to his adolescence under the sun of Nice, and his feats as an aviator in Africa during World War II, Romain Gary lived an extraordinary life. But this relentless pursuit of living a thousand lives, becoming a great man and a celebrated writer, he owed it all to Nina, his mother. It was the boundless love of this endearing and eccentric mother that made him one of the major novelists of the 20th century, a life filled with twists, passions, and mysteries. Yet, this limitless maternal love would also become his burden for life...
