Tuesday 18 July - 6:30pm to 7:30pm - Change of Date
Alliance Française d'Adélaïde
In this first conference, we’ll look at how stardom and celebrity emerged in French cinema from its earliest days of silent film, through to
the arrival of sound (and the huge boom in theatre actors moving into cinema) right up to the French New Wave in the 1960s. Names like Jean Gabin, Simone Signoret, Catherine Deneuve and Jean-Paul Belmondo resonate throughout the ages: come along and find out more about them,
their films, and their extraordinary legacy.
$10 for members & students
$15 for non-members
