The Adelaide Fringe - Tickets Contest

The cultural agenda of Adelaide is full in 2023, so we will try to guide you through these many events. The Adelaide Fringe will kick off 'Mad March', the festival month, on 17 February! It is the second largest annual arts festival in the world and will showcase more than 7,000 artists from across Australia and around the world until 19 March. How could you not find your heart's desire?

Since the French touch is still very much present this year, we are showcasing five of our favourite artists, all of whom have a connection with the Francophonie. From music to cabaret and humor, they are overflowing with talent and will be able to immerse you in a very Frenchie atmosphere. Perfect to spend a great time with family or friends.

Some shows are already sold out, so make sure to buy your tickets soon, or take part in our contests for tickets that we’ll be exclusively running for you on our social media or in the comment section below! As we like to spoil you, the members of the Alliance Française d’Adelaïde will also be offered discount codes.

Discover more below with the link that each of these shows has with France so that you can try to get your tickets and have a taste of what is waiting for you.

Five of our Favourite Artists

Talk Dirty, Stay Classy - Arnaud Benassy

Have you ever wanted to learn how to say 'go f**k yourself' in French?

After sold out shows and five-star reviews, Talk Dirty, Stay Classy with the irrepressible Arnaud Benassy is back at a new venue, Club de Petanque d’Adelaide (full bar available)!

Due to selling out so quickly last year, we have a bigger venue, so we can accommodate larger groups in the event of social distancing guidelines. To avoid disappointment, booking early is highly recommended.

Come and join us for a night of laughter as you learn ALL (well, most) of your favourite swear words in French. Shows are loud, rude, and hilariously fun.

When?
24 February, 4 and 18 March

Love on the Left Bank - Louise Blackwell

Celebrated Adelaide actress and singer Louise Blackwell brings to life the inspiring story of French singer Juliette Gréco. It is a musical celebration of love, life and liberty as it occurred in the Left Bank of Paris at the time of its liberation from Nazi German occupation.

Backed by a superb six-piece band led by musical director Mark Ferguson, Louise performs songs which evoke the joy and revelry of liberation as it occurred in the legendary underground clubs of Saint Germain des Prés, the bohemian district where Juliette found refuge during the war.

Philosophers, writers and artists gathered round Juliette as she made her debuts in cabaret nights that presented a myriad of different performers, poets and musical acts, and she is still known as the muse of Saint Germain des Prés.

"Contests exclusively on social media" leaves out many older members. I am one of them!! So many Francophiles/Francophones are in the older age bracket. Pity to exclude them!!
