About the French Market

The Story

In December 2013, we launched the very first French Christmas Market, a vibrant and free community event connecting South Australians with everything French and letting them (re)discover what French culture is all about. Held at the beautiful Unley Soldiers' Memorial Gardens, the French Christmas Market proved to be a great success both in 2013 and in 2014. We were overwhelmed with positive feedback from the public and were absolutely delighted to win the  Community Event of the Year from the City of Unley in 2015.

As part of our objective to constantly improve the French Market and make it bigger, better and more spectacular, we have redefined the concept of the event to fully meet our guests' expectations. The local context making it impossible to perfectly recreate the spirit of a French Christmas Market to Adelaide, we decided to remove the Christmas theme of the event and to reinforce its French atmosphere.

The event will showcase French and Australian exhibitors selling traditional  French and French-inspired products including food, wine, jewellery and handcrafts. In addition to the displays and stalls, various entertainment will be offered, such as cooking demonstrations, live music, children activities, and much more!

Vision and Values

The French Market is designed to  share and showcase French culture by bringing together French and French-inspired entertainment, products, cuisine and music. While we aim to bring France a bit closer to Adelaide, we also aim to contribute to South Australia's  cultural vibrancy, giving South Australians a better understanding of the French way of life and support local businesses.
