Bastille Day festivities are all around Adelaide this month. We hope to see you at our sold out event at the Art Gallery of South Australia in the world of Impressionism. Or if you'd like to do something during the day, the Adelaide Central Market will be celebrating Bastille Day with a full French experience (and an Eiffel Tower cake).

Ciné-club

Due to the July school holidays, we will not be running Ciné-club this month. Ciné-club will return on Wednesday, 15 August with Les Interdits, from 6:15pm.

Club de Lecture - Plage de Manaccora, 16h30

For this month's Club de Lecture, the club will to discuss Plage de Manaccora, 16h30 by Philippe Jaenada, about a family on vacation is southern Italy during the wildfires of summer. An excellent insight on man's greatness and shortcomings, the vanity of their efforts, and the fragile beauty of life.

French Market - Expression of Interest

Friday and Saturday, 23-24 November

The annual French Market is making its way back to Adelaide, on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 November, at the Soldiers' Memorial Gardens, Unley. Keep an eye out in the coming months about all the fantastic stalls, entertainment and food that will be available for a taste of all things French!

Returning to Term 3: Let's Speak French

Let's Speak French is back for Term 3 on Mondays, 6:30pm - 8:30pm!
This course is for Beginners A1.1 and includes materials developed
in-house by our teachers using their experience and expertise.

The course facilitates your first steps in French language acquisition
and gives you the building blocks in French vocabulary and language
structures to help you begin expressing yourself in French!

Holiday Workshops

For those who need some extra help with their grammar and pronunciation,
the Alliance will be running short workshops on 9-18 July, 6pm to 7:30pm,
to assist you with your French, such as: 'Nature et Fonction des Mots',
'Les Temps', and 'Phonétique'. We also offer a cultural workshop:
'Cuisine et Régions'.

Year 11 & 12 SACE/IB Holiday Intensive

The Year 11 and 12 Intensive course is for students studying Year 11 or 12
SACE or IB French and are looking for additional preparation. It will help them
brush up on their grammar, listening, comprehension, written and oral skills,
with a day dedicated to practising for the oral exam.

Dates:
Monday, 9 to Friday, 13 July, 10am to 1pm; or
Monday, 16 to Friday 20 July, 2pm to 5pm.

French Language Assessment for Children
(DELF PRIM & JUNIOR)

The DELF is an official French proficiency diploma for children
aged 7-12 (Prim) and for teenagers aged 12-17 (Junior).
No prior test or certification is needed and your results are valid for life!
Contact us as soon as possible about registering to be best prepared
for the DELF exams.

Arnaud Benassy est enseignant à l’Alliance Française mais aussi
DJ sous le nom de scène ‘BennyMax’. Il sera en charge de la programmation
musicale pour l’un des évènements les plus courus de l’année à Adélaïde :
Bastille Day à la Art Gallery de South Australia !  



Comment et quand avez-vous décidé de devenir DJ?
Un peu par hasard en fait, en animant musicalement un certain nombre de soirées, à l’Alliance entre autres, au cours des vingt dernières années. D’abord, par amusement et soyons francs, le plaisir d’écouter la musique que j’aime, mais aussi de la partager et au fil des années découvrir ce que les gens aiment. Puis, les demandes se sont multipliées ce qui m’a encouragé à continuer.

Pourquoi ce nom ‘BennyMax’ ?
Alors là, il faut retourner à mes premières amours, celui de la prestidigitation. Après des leçons avec un ami magicien de mon père, il me fallait choisir un nom. Bénassy est devenu Benny, mon second prénom étant Maxence. Abracadabra ! Ne riez pas, c’était en 1977!

Quelques mots sur la sélection musicale du 14 juillet à la Art Gallery
Une sélection française bien sûr, mais aussi très internationale sur des rythmes variés pour avoir un maximum de danseurs et danseuses sur la piste ! Il va sans dire que mes origines antillaises résonneront pendant la soirée.

Qu’est-ce qu’un bon DJ, selon vous?
La faculté d’avoir trois yeux, un sur la chanson qui passe, l’autre sur celle qui suit et le troisième sur la piste. Donc, je vous donne rendez vous sur la piste en vous souhaitant à tous un superbe 14 juillet 2018!

Colours of Impressionism - French Guided Tour for Bastille Day

What have the French ever done for us? - The French Revolution and its Impact

On Wednesday, 11 July from 6pm, What have the French ever done for us? will have Professor of the History of the French Revolution and the Empire at the Université de Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne, Pierre Serna, examine the impact of the French Revolution.
