First of all, thank you to everyone who participated in our Quiz Night, hosted with Adélaïde Accueil, on 26th May. Very good atmosphere with laughs, smiles and cheer! On the program for June: Make Music Day, Term 3 courses, and a special announcement for Bastille Day in the colours of Impressionism.

The South Australian French Teachers' Association is holding their SAFTA Annual Conference this weekend for an enriching day of professional development for the French teachers in South Australia. 5 teachers from the Alliance Française will be participating in running workshops for the teachers.

Ciné-club - Les garçons et Guillaume, à table!

For this month's Ciné-club, we will be screening Les garçons et Guillaume, à table!, a 2013 French coming-of-age comedy which follows French comedian, Guillaume Gallienne, as a boy as he develops his own identity and his relationship with his mother.

La Fête de la Musique

Alliance Française d’Adélaïde will be adapting this annual French celebration for the South Australian winter, opening its doors and providing space to encourage musicians to make music and allow spectators to enjoy live performances, complete with wine and food.

Club de Lecture - Sauve-moi

For this month's Club de Lecture, the club will to discuss Sauve-moi by Guillaume Musso, about Sam Galoway, a thirty-year-old New Yorker who one day meets Juliette, a pretty 28-year-old French waitress in a bar who dreams of becoming an actress.

An alternative way to practise your French, Club de Lecture allows you to develop and improve your reading and comprehension skills. If you would like to know more, please contact Laureline.

Bastille Day

Saturday, 14 July - 7pm-12am
Art Gallery of South Australia


Start the night with a private tour of the Impressionist exhibition, then meet your friends at the Gallery Atrium for a glass of French Champagne and a light supper.

Grammar Clinics

For those who need some extra help with their grammar and pronunciation,
the Alliance will be running short workshops on 8 and 22 June, 4pm - 5:30pm,
to assist you with grammar, such as: 'Nature et Fonction des Mots' and 'Phonétique'.

En quoi consiste votre travail à l’Alliance ?
Mon premier rôle est d'enseigner à des publics adultes, enfants/adolescents, à distance (sur Skype). Je suis également en charge de la coordination pédagogique enfants. Ainsi, je gère l'organisation des classes de petite école et du jeune public jusqu'à 18 ans.

Ça fait combien de temps que vous vivez à Adélaïde ? Pourquoi le choix de l’Australie ?
Je vis à Adelaïde depuis presque un an et demi. J'ai choisi l'Australie car je n'avais jamais encore travaillé dans un pays anglophone. L'offre d'emploi de l'Alliance représentait de plus une opportunité très intéressante qui a su me convaincre de choisir l'Australie.

Quel intérêt un enfant ou un adolescent australien peut-il trouver dans l’apprentissage du français ?
L'apprentissage d'une langue étrangère en général favorise une sensibilisation à la différence et une certaine ouverture d'esprit. Le Français en particulier représente également un avantage puisque c'est une langue parlée sur les cinq continents mais également dans des domaines comme le droit, le sport, etc.

Palace Films - Two is a Family

Palace Films will be screening this French Film Festival favourite, Two is a Family.

Samuel (Omar Sy) enjoys the good life on the sunny beaches of the Côte d’Azur, until his former lover, Kristin (Clémence Poésy), arrives and deposits their infant daughter, Gloria, in his care.

We have 5 DOUBLE PASSES to give away to our members for the sneak preview sessions on Friday, 22 - Sunday, 24 June, ahead of the Thursday, 28 June theatrical release. To enter, simply email us. Competition closes on Monday, 11 June and winners will be notified on Tuesday, 12 June.

Palace Films - Thierrée / Pite / Pérez / Shechter

Palace Films will be screeing the latest performance by the Paris Opera Ballet, Thierrée / Pite / Pérez / Shechter, as four contemporary choreographers come together for a programme that leads the Opera’s dancers to a new form of modernity where bodies vibrate with intensity.

On Saturday, 16 June at 2pm, What have the French ever done for us? will have renowned art historian and critic, Christopher Allen, examine the influence of French artistic movements of the late 19th and early 20th centuries on Australian artists.
