The 29th annual Alliance Française French Film Festival, returns to Palace Nova Eastend – and the newly opened Palace Nova Prospect – from 22 March to 15 April.
See all the Festival has to offer with an exciting selection of 47 features, 2 documentaries and a cheeky Parisian TV series, which showcases the passion, artistry and dazzling diversity of contemporary French cinema.


Ciné-club - Le Hérisson

Wednesday, 14 February - 6:15pm
Alliance Française, 319 Young St, Wayville

For this month's Ciné-club, we will be screening Le Hérisson, a 2009 French film about Paloma, an 11-year-old girl unhappily living a life of luxury in Paris with her family. Only after developing a friendship with Mrs. Michel, the gruff-looking reclusive concierge, and Mr. Ozu, a Japanese widower, the two like-minds show Paloma a lovelier side of life than she originally thought possible.

Club de Lecture

Wednesday, 28 February - 6:30pm-8pm
Alliance Française, 319 Young St, Wayville

For this month's Club de Lecture, the club will continue to discuss La Possibilité d'une île by Michel Houellebecq, which tells the story of Daniel, a successful comedian, and his two clones, in a post-apocalyptic future set in a cloning cult.

An alternative way to practise your French, Club de Lecture allows you to develop and improve your reading and comprehension skills.

2017 Award-Winning Novels

2017 award-winning French novels will be available to borrow from the the Library in February, including: La Serpe by Philippe Jaenada (Prix Femina), L'Ordre du jour by Éric Vuillard (Prix Goncourt), L'art de perdre by Alice Zeniter (Prix Goncourt des lycéens), La Disparition by Josef Mengele d'Olivier Guez (Prix Renaudot), and Tiens ferme ta couronne by Yannick Haenel (Prix Médicis). Let's Speak French

Let's Speak French has begun for Term 1. This exciting new course for Beginners A1.1
includes materials developed in-house by our teachers using their experience and expertise,
and drawing from the best of resources available internationally.
The course facilitates their first steps in French language acquisition and gives them the building blocks in French vocabulary and language structures to help them begin expressing themselves in French.

New Textbooks for Kids

Beginning in Term 1, children in Years 1-7 will be using textbooks in class.
Children in Years 1- 3 will learn French with Les Loustics, a fun, creative, action-oriented textbook  full of visual and audio documents that reflect the lively world of children
and gives them  a zest for learning, with a spiral approach to reinforce learning
from one lesson to the next.

Children in Years 4-7 will learn French with Adosphère and Adomania, which adopts an active,  task-based approach and places a strong emphasis on developing students' independence  by making them aware of different learning techniques that could benefit them and  by encouraging them to evaluate their progress regularly.
