Classes kept to a maximum of 14 students per class (average of 10) and a focus on developing communicative competence.

Qualified and experienced teachers who speak French as a native language.

A large variety of the latest teaching materials, following the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The CEF was created by leading applied linguists and teaching specialists from the member states of the Council of Europe to facilitate international and vocational mobility. It describes proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in any language, and it consists of six levels, clustered in three bands: A1 – A2 (Basic User) / B1 – B2 (Independent User) / C1 – C2 (Proficient User).

A friendly atmosphere, encouraging interaction and communication. Studying French at the Alliance Française is not just a classroom experience. It is a chance to be immersed in a French speaking environment: the Alliance organises and promotes social and cultural events related to France (The French Festival at Carrick Hill, the annual French Film Festival, concerts, conferences, exhibitions, and much more).

What you need to know before you start French
Accreditations:
- The Alliance is accredited by the Ethnic School Board of SA and by SSABSA
- The Alliance is SA's official examination centre for the DELF & DALF exams which are organised by the French Ministry of Education
