Basic user A2 - "Waystage"
French courses for basic users
Alliance teachers speak French as a native language and use a communicative method of language learning in supportive classroom environments. Students will follow the 'Campus 1' French-as-a-foreign-language method. With its focus on developing communicative competence, the textbook offers students lots of opportunities to speak along with a reasonable approach to grammar. It follows the standards of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
How to determine your level?
If you are new to the Alliance but not a complete beginner, you will need to sit for a language assessment, consisting of a short written evaluation followed by an informal conversation. This short test does not require preparation and is held free of charge, preferably by appointment on 8272 4281.
The "A2 Waystage" level covers 80 to 140 hours of French and is divided into 3 sub-levels.
- Level 5: Past tenses are intensively used to relate personal or cultural past events. Deepen your expressive skills to communicate in real-life situations: introduce, thank and invite people.
- Level 6: Using a wide range of vocabulary, you will compare quantities and places, make suppositions, talk about television, landscapes, climate, transportation and businesses.
- Level 7: The emphasis is on enlarging your vocabulary and move on to more complex ways of speaking. You will talk about health, press, politics, environment, books and travels.
The classes are held at different moment of the day (morning, afternoon or evening) to suit everyone wanting to learn French. Once-a-week classes are perfect for busy people, while twice-a-week classes are especially designed for those students wanting to progress quickly (with 40 hours a term) allowing students to become more deeply immersed in the language.
