The Alliance provides French courses adapted to various levels, from term long to intensive courses.
Officially accredited by SSABSA, the Alliance offers courses to prepare Y11 and Y12 students for the SACE French exam.
The French Continuers Stage 1 is designed for students who have achieved Year 10 level or equivalent knowledge. The French Continuers Stage 2 is designed for students who have achieved Stage 1 level or equivalent knowledge.
Studying a foreign language gives students the opportunity to develop their intellect and contribute to cultural awareness and literacy. The ability and confidence to communicate with others across cultures will also improve their chances of success in their career. SACE Stage 2 French exam is a Higher Education Selection Subject and therefore is a pathway to further study and training.
According to the SSABSA curriculum statement, the study of French at continuers level is described in the following three strands: Communication, Understanding Language and Understanding Culture. Our qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers help students obtain the knowledge of linguistic features and concepts, as well as the awareness and knowledge of cultural concepts. All our teachers are native speakers.
Because learning a language is not just learning grammar and vocabulary, the Alliance offers more than just a classroom experience. The Alliance, whose main role consists of developing a cultural and social link between France and South Australia, provides a friendly and 100% French environment. Studying French in a little corner of France in Adelaide is much more than an academic experience! Our resource centre, with books, magazines, videos, and CD-ROMs from France available to be borrowed free of charge, is a great asset for our students, especially for their in-depth studies.

Extra practice
If your son or daughter is keen to learn French, or needs extra practice, offer him or her the opportunity to develop this subject in a friendly and supportive environment. These courses provide extra practice in oral and writing skills, listening and reading comprehension and contemporary French culture. All classes are held in a real French atmosphere!

Get prepared for the final year examination!
With the exams a stone's throw away, the Alliance Française has prepared a special programme to help students in Year 12 SACE and IB prepare for their final year French examination. Workshops, intensive or term-long courses designed to deal with the new examination format are available to all students in Year 12 and some are also open to Year 11 students.
