DELF/DALF Tout Public (Adults)

The DELF - DALF exams (DELF is the acronym for Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française, DALF means  Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official French proficiency diplomas administered by the French Government and the French Ministry for Education.

Why take the DELF/DALF exam?

The DELF/DALF diplomas are official French language certifications for non-native speakers administered by the French Ministry for Education and recognised in 165 countries.

A DELF diploma is required to apply to French universities and is a great asset to show on your CV. Each year, over 300,000 students register to take the DELF exams. There are 6 levels available, from beginner to advanced... and  your results are valid for life!

During the exam, four skills are evaluated through two examinations:

What diplomas should I take?

The DELF/DALF is divided into six diplomas corresponding to the scale of the Common European Reference Framework for Languages: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2.

The six DELF and DALF diplomas are independent from one another, so you can take the examination of your choice. You can also sit the examination for a number of diplomas during the same examination session. Whether you are studying at Alliance or not, please refer to the level and examinations description HERE in order to decide which exam level you should sit for.

If you want to take the DALF exam or  have any questions regarding your level, please contact  adelaide@af.org.au or call us on 8272 4281.

DELF Prim & DELF Junior

DELF PRIM

Designed for children in Primary School, between 7 and 12 years old, the DELF PRIM  is the official French language diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education. Children can register to one of the three first levels: A1.1, A1 or A2.

During the exam, four skills are evaluated through two examinations:

This diploma has the same value as the DELF for adults and is valid for life. It is the opportunity for children in Primary school to demonstrate their French language skills, be rewarded for their work at school and get used to sitting exams for certificates from the beginning of their French studies.

DELF JUNIOR

Designed for teenagers  between 12 and 17 years old, the DELF JUNIOR  is the official French language diploma awarded by the French Ministry of Education.

The DELF Junior has the same requirements and characteristics as the DELF for adults but tackles topics adapted to teenagers. They certify the French as Second Language learner skills at four different levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), thus there are four separated diplomas:   A1(Discovery),  A2 (Intermediate), B1 (Independent) and B2 (Advanced).

During the exam, four skills are evaluated through two examinations:

The examinations are independent, candidates can register for a level without any prerequisite for the examination of their choice. The diploma is valid for life!
This exam is also open to all young French citizens residing in a non-francophone country and schooled in local institutions.

Why take the DELF exam?

Recognised in 165 countries, The DELF Prim and Junior exams, as well as the Baccalauréat and the Brevet, are official French certifications administered by the French Ministry of Education.
