Rebecca

Born into a 150% English-speaking family with German ancestry, the French language and culture never entered the picture until the age of 7 when Strathalbyn Primary School introduced French to the Year 3 student. It was a compulsory subject to the end of Year 8 at Strathalbyn High School and the choice was too clear to Rebecca - French sooo rocked!!!

Selected to represent Strathalbyn and District 9520 as an exchange student for Rotary International (after having done dismally in her Year 12 French exams) she migrated (only) temporarily (unfortunately) to France where she lived the blissful life of a lycéenne until the reverie was très rudely interrupted and it was time to return home to little old Strath.

Uncertain how to use her new-found "skills" and independence, Rebecca chose Tourism as a way to earn $$$, but more importantly travel and speak French. Finishing a degree in Tourism Management and looking for a way to finance her nasty travel habit, she applied for (and obtained, obviously!) the Receptionist position at the Alliance Française d'Adelaide in March 2001.

Four years on, she is now happily ensconced in the bureau as assistante de direction (extraordinaire!) which she has often referred to as the best job in the world!

She can be contacted by email on admin@af.org.au
