December 2016 Newsletter

Chers tous,

A busy year is coming to its end and another exciting year lies ahead.

Dear students, members, friends and partners of the Alliance Française, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support and confidence. The 2016 edition of the French Market that took place a few weeks ago was a great success and it showed how much we liked to be together.

Dear committee members, teachers and administrative staff of the Alliance Française, thank you for all your efforts and help throughout the year. Without having you on board, the Alliance Française would not be the same.

M. Laurent POINTUD
Directeur, Alliance française d’Adelaïde

Bonjour Adelaide French Mar
ket

Good food, good wine and good weather! That’s what over  13,000 people experienced at the Bonjour Adelaide French Market held on the 18th & 19th November. Our market grows bigger every year, with more stalls and more entertainment and more people attending.

Friday night was very busy, with people enjoying the atmosphere of all things French, which continued through-out Saturday. The Market ended with a party atmosphere in the bar area, with our great DJ playing music until close.

Congratulations to the winners of our raffle. Tammy Modra, (1105), winner of the Singapore Airlines Flights for 2 to Paris, Ros Hewitson (3134) 12 months French Classes at the Alliance, Cristina Garcia (3096) Tefal Cookware, John Taylor (1455) Tefal Cookware, Sarah Porter (3189) Arbeaumont Champage, and Peter Darly (1441) Le Petite Amour Box by French Avenue.

A huge thanks to our Sponsors, in particular Singapore Airlines, Board members, Staff and Volunteers for making this event a success it was.

It’s with sadness that we say farewell to Clemence Rault. Clemence has been at the Alliance Française d'Adelaïde for just over 3 years and has taught many students here both in private lessons and classes. Clemence has decided to move back overseas to be closer to her family. We thank Clemence for her dedicated work here at the Alliance, and wish her every success in the future. Clemence will be missed.

Each Wednesday the   Déjeuner-Conversation group, comprising Alliance members and students, meets to chat in French.

The group invites students, teachers, members and francophiles to join them for   La Fête de Noël, a communal lunch on 7 December 2016. Put this date in your diary for French festivities and fellowship.

For those who don't know them, French Books on Wheels Inc (Le Van du Livre) is registered as a not-for-profit association in Australia. The project aims at meeting francophiles and francophones and familiarise them with French language publications through cultural exchanges all over Australia. With our main partners 'Le Forum - Your French bookshop in Australia' - and Bayard Presse, a selection of books, magazines and DVDs will be for sale in the van.

2017 - Term 1

Our Term 1 courses are now open for enrolments with the 5% Earlybird discount available now until 14th January 2017.  Your place on the course is not guaranteed from one term to another unless you have paid and registered PRIOR to the beginning of the course.

One of the benefits of learning French at the Alliance Française d'Adelaïde is that we limit the number of students per class, smaller classes gives students a greater opportunity to be active and participate in all lessons.

This is especially relevant to our  Petite Ecole classes, as we have had an increase in enrolments and enquiries already for Term 1, we believe that these courses will be in high demand and there will be limited places available.

To help us with planning for classes and teaching staff, please ensure that you PAY and REGISTER ‘PRIOR’ to the start of Term 1.
